French Press - Great starting point.

What you need: French press, Yerba Mate, and hot water (150-170f)

How to brew:

  1. Add 1–2 tablespoons of Yerba Mate per 8oz of water.
  2. Pour hot water (not boiling) over the leaves.
  3. Let it steep for 4–6 minutes.
  4. Press down the plunger and pour.

Note- You can also cold brew in a french press. Just add cold water and throw it in the fridge not pressed down. In the morning press and pour.

Cold Brew (Terere)

What you need: Yerba Mate, pitcher or bottle, cold water, and ice

How to brew:

  1. Add 2–3 tablespoons of Yerba Mate per 16oz of cold water.
  2. Let it steep in the fridge for 8–16 hours.
  3. Strain.
  4. Serve over ice.
  5. You can leave the pitcher in the fridge for upwards of a week once you strain the leaves.

Flavor tip: Refreshing, smooth, and naturally sweet. Add mint, citrus, or fruit for a twist.

Traditional Calabash Method

What you need: Yerba Mate, calabash (gourd), bombilla, and hot water (around 160–175°F)

How to brew:

  1. Fill your calabash about 3/4th with Yerba Mate.
  2. Tilt it so the leaves rest on one side. (the mountain)
  3. Insert your bombilla at an angle into the damp leaves.
  4. Add hot water slowly and sip. Refill and repeat until the flavor fades.

Flavor tip: The first pour is the strongest. Each refill gets smoother and more mellow.

Tea Infuser or Mug Method

What you need: Tea infuser or reusable bag, mug, and hot water

How to brew:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of Yerba Mate to your infuser.
  2. Pour hot water over it. (150-170f)
  3. Steep for 5–7 minutes.
  4. Remove the infuser and enjoy.

Flavor tip: Great for quick, no-mess brewing anywhere.
